The SUP Roof Rack is one of the premier soft roof racks available for transporting your SUP. The SUP Roof Rack is designed to hold up to 2 full-sized SUPs for vehicles with or without built-in roof crossbars! These features make this SUP rack one of the most versatile and effective racks on the market.
The SUP Roof Rack is a complete racking system that includes (2) base foam blocks, (2) foam spacers, (2) 15ft tie down straps, and (2) internal straps - this is everything you need to safely and securely transport up to two SUPs. This SUP rack system is particularly great because it is designed to work with cars and SUVs with OR without built-in roof racks. The design of the base foam block is what allows the rack to be compatible with almost any vehicle. If you look to the image on the right, you'll see that there is a specialized channel cut in the bottom of the foam block. This specially shaped channel allows you to use the base foam block on square, oval, and round roof rack crossbars. Additionally, a special slit has been cut in the channel that allows you to insert the tie down strap and use it to hold down the base block if you don't have factory crossbars. Awesome!
How it works:
Base foam pads – the base foam pads will either sit on your bare roof or on your crossbars depending on whether you have a built-in roof rack or not. Each base foam block comes with a non-slip TPR bottom that won’t scratch your bare roof or crossbars. The base foam rack is where you set the first SUP.
Spacer foam block – the spacer foam block is what sits between your two SUPs. Once you’ve placed the base foam block and the first SUP down, then you put the spacer foam block down. After you have that in place, you can put your second SUP down.
Internal tie down straps – the internal tie down straps are the straps that are used to secure your SUPs to the foam blocks. As seen in the images, you run the strap through the channel in the base foam block and around your boards. You may not need or want to use the internal tie down straps if you are using the base foam blocks on your built-in crossbars.
Main tie down straps – these tie down straps are used to secure the entire system down to your car. If you are using this SUP roof rack without built-in crossbars, then you’ll want to wrp the main tie down straps over both your boards and through your car. If you’re using this rack system with built-in crossbars, then you can just tie down your boards using the crossbars or other parts of your vehicle’s factory rack as an anchor point.
